Day 2
Woke up at about 8:30am after a strange dream. This time the dream was set in my state of birth– North Carolina on the Outer Banks. I was looking over sand dunes near Jockey’s Ridge. Then I was told I had to head “back” because of curfew. I was somehow transported to the Albemarle Sound Bridge and night was steadily approaching. The dream left me groggy still, so once I woke up I got up and drunk a diet Dr. Pepper.
I fed the yowling cats, then checked twitter. Lots of shitposts and commentary about which bailout would work best for the average worker.
Fell back asleep.
Woke back up at noon, made a pot of brown rice. Added roast chicken to it and made a “protein bowl.” Still no coffee.
Decided to spruce myself up for Saint Patrick’s Day.
It was always a holiday I liked mainly because for many years it was my father’s birthday. But then when he was 66 he got a copy of his birth certificate and the birth date was no longer March 17, 1945, it was now March 18. So now he won’t let us celebrate the 17 as his birthday although this was the day I more commonly attach to my memory of his birthday…
Many emails- answered them which mainly were reschedules of Zoom meetings and postpone announcements. Checked slack which was mostly various library personnel trying to gain clarity on the most effective methods to connect to VPN.
Still unable to work for a prolonged stretch of time.
Tomorrow I will start back on my contract work for a global conservation advocacy organization.
Daughter is getting better with accommodating the new normal.
She did a ton of laundry today and made a list of things for me to get tomorrow when I do my once a week store run.
Ricky is completely in line with social distancing but misses his peers at schools somewhat.
No word from my older siblings today which lets me know everyone is still trying to adjust. Last I heard everyone was staying inside.
Older siblings in Boston, Charlotte, NC, and San Diego, CA.
My parents are at home, staying inside in Laurinburg, N.C.
